SRT Training, Racing, & Events Schedule
— BE PREPARED FOR WINTER WEATHER —
Ski racing happens in all kinds of winter weather! Parents, please check the forecast before every practice and race, and make sure your athletes arrive properly dressed for the conditions.
Cold temperatures, wind, snow, and changing weather can quickly affect comfort, safety, and performance.
Dress in layers, bring handwarmers, insulated layers, and dry clothing, and make sure racers have appropriate face and neck protection.
Warm, dry, and well-prepared athletes are better able to focus, train, and enjoy their time on the snow. Remember, conditions can change throughout the day, so plan accordingly!

Weather Policy
Ending Practice Early | Practice Cancellation Policy
- SRT Coaches put the kid’s safety above all else. Please read below information on how we handle weather throughout the winter.
- Please make sure your child is prepared for the temperatures they’ll be skiing in!
- If the weather or snow conditions are questionable we frequently have to end practice early. Watch for notifications and updates from the team.
- If practice does proceed, despite the cold, we allow the kids opportunities to warm-up when requested. Make sure to pack the following on cold days:
- Face mask,
- Neck warmer, or baclava;
- Hand and toe warmers; and
- Extra tops and bottom layers.
- A general rule of thumb is for each 10 degree drop in temperature, you want to add an extra layer or half inch of insulation to the torso. To learn more, read Coach Mya’s blog post on staying warm throughout the winter.
- Sometimes we’re forced to cancel or end practice early due to weather or poor snow conditions. If this happens we send out text messages, emails, and post to our Facebook page the announcement ahead of time.
NOTE: Please indicate in your SRT registration profile your preferences for receiving alerts from the ski team.
Other Practice Details
- SRT Operates out of Sundown’s South Lodge at Sundown Mountain. This is the lodge where you can change into your ski gear, leave your boot bags, and change after practice. (Please be sure you pick-up after yourselves! Sundown Mtn is very generous in allowing us use of this space. We must make sure that all trash is appropriately disposed of, that your area is clean when you leave!)
- Our first day of practice is weather dependent. Please stay tuned to the announcement emails or announcements for more information.
