Johan Eliasch, president of the International Ski Federation (FIS), has officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Since taking charge of FIS in June 2021, Eliasch has led the organization through a period of transformation. On July 24, 2024, he earned a place as a member of the IOC. In a letter to IOC members, Eliasch outlined his vision for the future of the organization and addressed the challenges ahead.

Marcel Hirscher Granted Sölden Wildcard but May Skip if Not Ready

Marcel Hirscher, the Austrian superstar coming out of retirement and now skiing for the Dutch team, officially secured a wildcard to compete in Sölden on October 27th. However, FIS did not grant Hirscher the wildcard as originally outlined for the 2024/25 season. For now, he holds permission only to start in Sölden, a decision made during the FIS autumn meeting in Zurich.
