About SRT Online

SRT Online is a resource to help pass along ski racing knowledge among the SRT community.  The site contains critical information on ski racing, including:

  • Updates on SRT Practices & Races.

  • Articles on Alpine Ski Racing.

  • Introduction Info on SRT, S.R., and Wijara.

  • Collaboration Forum for SRT Members.

  • Library for Posting Results, Videos, & Team Photos.

About SRT Coaching Staff

SRT Coaches are some of the most experienced coaches in the country.  Head Coach Mya Schaefer, originally from Vermont, is a former US Ski Team member, NCAA All American, & ski area operations manager. Coach Carter Newt, a former SRT racer, raced at the highest levels of the sport and for the University of Vermont Ski Team. Coach Matt Scherr has over 15 years of coaching experience with SRT.  SRT is fortunate to have a dedicated group of coaches & parents filling out their coaching ranks.

At Wijara races SRT Athletes have the benefit of experienced coaches located at the top of the race hill and in the finish area. Coaches are there to help with the pre-race jitters, talk race strategy, and make sure pre-race issues are mitigated.

Registration for 2023 / 2024

Below you will find instructions for registering for 2024 Race Season.  There are two sets of instructions for those of your returning for another year, pick Returning Racers.  If you are new to SRT either first year racing or are transfering from another Wijara Team pick New to Skiring or Transferring. 

    Returning Racers?

    To renew your SRT & Wijara Memberships you will need to

    1. Create a SRT Onloine site user name and password for this site, New User ID & Password *Be sure to check your spam or junk mail folder for automated emails from SRT Online.

    2. Make sure you have the right bib number(s)

    New to Ski Racing or Transferring?

    If you're interested in ski racing you've come to the right place!  SRT has been teaching kids about ski racing and safe skiing practices for over 25 years.

    To join SRT & Wijara you will need to

    1. Create a SRT Online user name and password for this site, New User ID & Password *Be sure to check your spam or junk mail folder for automated emails from SRT Online. 
       
    2. Next, register for the SRT.clicking here
      • To Complete Registration you will need...
        • New Racers? If you are new to Wijara select New under Wijara Status field.
        • Transfering Racers? If you are transferring from another Wijara team, please enter your old bib number, and select Transfer under Wijara Status field.
        • A Paypal or Venmo Account
        • Emergency Contact Info
        • Volunteer for two jobs, 1 for our home race, 1 at an away race. If you have questions regarding volunteering please read Parent Volunteer Page under Team Resources.
           
    3. After joining SRT and receiving a bib number from the SRT Tracker you will be able to register with the race league, Wijara.
       
    4. The link to Wijara will be provided below.  Note, registration for the race season has not yet opened, we expect Wijara Registration to open on Nov 1, 2023.

     

    Junior Coaching Opps Open!

    Senior SRT Athletes may apply to become a Junior Coach.  To apply you'll need to login to SRT Online and fill out the SRT Coach Application, located under the Home button.

    SRT members

    The Sundown Race Team is a non-profit club linked to Sundown Mtn Ski Resort, in Dubuque, Iowa. The team primarily trains and hosts races on Andrew's and the Snow Devil trail, to the left side of Sundown's terrain park.

    The Race Schedule for the upcoming race season has been confirmed.  

    • Chestnut - January 6/7
    • Sundown - January 20/21
    • Devil's Head - Feb 3/4
    • Tyrol Basin - Feb 24/25

    2024 Practice Schedule

    Sundown Race Team practices every Tuesday & Thursday evening from 6:15 to 8:00 PM, and on Saturday's, when we're not racing, from 8:15 AM to 11:30 PM.  To learn more about joining SRT send an email to:

    Competition Opportunities

    SRT is a long-standing membership team inside of Wijara. SRT is the second largest team within the league. Wijara consists of eight other teams: Chestnut Mountain, Tyrol Basin, Cascade Mountain, Snowstar, Hidden Valley, Blackhawk, Four Lakes, & Wilmot.  Teams within the league cover a large geography, from North of Madison, East of Chicago, all of Iowa, and as far South as Saint Louis.  

    About Wijara - Four Weekends of Racing
    Each season Wijara schedules four weekend events; two in January and two weekends in February. Weekend races have upwards of 600 racers, (with over 800 kids registered within the league). Sundown, Chestnut, Cascade, and Tyrol Basin each are host hills. Weekend competitions; teams compete in one day of Giant Slalom (GS) on Saturday's and one day of Slalom (SL) on Sundays. The weekend events are fun opportunities for kids and parents alike, offering the chance to get outside and enjoy winter; watch the kids compete, and enjoy a carnival like atmosphere.
