About Sundown Race Team

The Sundown Race Team, provides team members advanced Alpine Ski Racing development. Located at Sundown Ski Resort, in Dubuque, Iowa, the Sundown Team provides kids ages 5 to 20 the chance to learn a sport that they can enjoy for a lifetime.  Thru ski racing kids not only develop as individuals, but also discover a means to stay active outdoors all year round.

SRT competes against other regional teams via participation in WIJARA (Wisconsin Iowa Illinois Alpine Racing Association). Each season SRT participates in four regional races, hosted over the weekends in January and February. Sundown hosts one home race while the three other events are hosted at regional ski areas located in Southern Wisconsin and Western Illinois. At each event, teams compete in one day of Giant Slalom (GS), and one day of Slalom (SL). Wijara consists of eight other teams besides SRT, including: Chestnut Mountain, Tyrol Basin, Cascade Mountain, Snowstar, Hidden Valley, Blackhawk, Four Lakes, & Wilmot.  Below you can learn more about SRT & WIJARA. Sundown Race Team Quick Facts

• Children Ages 5 & Older

• Practices Tuesday & Thursday 6:15- 8:30pm & Optional Free Nastar Runs on Saturdays 10am-1pm

• $250 per racer includes Coaching for all practices & Unlimited Free Nastar Runs on Saturdays

• $32 WIJARA Registration Fee

• Must be able to ski intermediate hills in control

• Must be able to load & unload chairlifts

• Hard-sided helmets are required to race per USSA ski racing regulations

• Racers need skis (no twin tips), boots & poles
